Blood Sugar levels play a very important role in the life of both, mother and the baby during pregnancy. High Blood Sugar levels may cause deformities in the baby while predispose the baby to develop Diabetes during adulthood. Growth and maintainance of fetus creates special challenges for the mothers body. Hormonal changes in pregnancy decrease mothers insulin sensitivity, leading to manifold increased requirements of insulin; if the mothers pancreas are not able to produce sufficient quantity of insulin, blood sugar levels start rising.
